Revised criteria to identify endocrine disrupting chemicals adopted in the EU

According to Chemical Watch, the European Commission has officially adopted the revised criteria to identify endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in plant protection product (PPPs). The new criteria will become applicable on 10 November.

"The EU is now the first worldwide to have strict legally binding criteria to identify endocrine disruptors," the Commission said in a press release.

The whole revision process and the final decision is not short of criticism from both crop industry and NGO sides, just like the production of the WHO 2012 EDC report.

UN Environment has a webpage listing potential EDCs, based on publicly available proposals

from competent agencies and a variety of countries. International uniformed list of EDCs might have a long way to come....
