The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will meet in Incheon, Republic of Korea, on 1-5 October 2018, to consider the Special Report Global Warming of 1.5ºC. Subject to approval, the Summary for Policymakers will be released on Monday 8 October with a live-streamed press conference.

In its decision on the adoption of the Paris Agreement, the Conference of Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at its 21st Session in Paris (2015) invited the IPCC to provide a special report in 2018 on the impacts of global warming of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways. This invitation was accepted by the IPCC Panel at its 43rd Session - a Special Report will be prepared on this topic in the context of strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change, sustainable development and efforts to eradicate poverty, the final version of which will be discussed and adopted in the coming days.

No matter whatever the politics at play, Association 3 Herissons sincerely hope the IPCC Panel could uphold the credibility of this important report, to inform the Talanoa Dialogue, upcoming COP 24, and global climate actions in the coming decades.
