In great news for renewables, Scottish Power are the first major UK energy company to go for it 100%. They sold off the last of their gas power stations to Drax, another power company, for over £700m. Drax runs the UK's biggest power plant, in North Yorkshire, which has previously been criticised for its high pollution levels, and is "moving away from coal."

The CEO of Scottish Power said "we are leaving carbon generation behind for a renewable future." All of its electricity will now be generated from wind power, and they plan to double their renewable capacity.
